Be Easy: 10 things to remind yourself of on a daily basis

rumiandshit:

  1. Do not lose sight of what truly matters. Does that clogged sink signify the end of the world? Are you going to remember or even care that the stranger you smiled at in the coffee shop didn’t smile back? When we’re having a bad day, we seem to zoom in on petty things and complain about them….

How am I to aspire to You when You are behind every aspiration?
How am I to seek You when seeking itself signifies being distant?
Can One who is ever-close, ever-present, be sought?

Ibn ʿArabī (via theconsciousmuslim)

When we had homes made of mud and clay,
our hearts were soft like them, too.
People sacrificed so much for one another
and were always bound to one another in love and service.
Now our homes are made of bricks and cement,
and our hearts are hard like them.
We don’t care for one another
and don’t care if relationships are sour or torn.

She was standing, but she was breaking inside
She wore a mask and held back her tears
For the ones she loves she hid all her fears
The only time she could cry
Was when she looked up to the sky
Because with God, she doesn’t need to pretend to be strong

Our hearts are not ours to give, yet we give it away so carelessly.

As for the weeping of the Prophet (ﷺ) it was in the same degree as his laughter. He wouldn’t sob loudly and raise his voice, just like his laughter wasn’t loud. However his eyes would fill up with tears, until they flowed out, and you would hear the sound like that of a whistling kettle coming from his chest. He would weep out of mercy for the dead, out of fear and compassion for his followers, out of deep fear of Allah, upon listening to the Qur’an. And it was a weeping of longing, love and exaltation, accompanied by fear and reverence.
